The following are cultural activities we have collected to offer you the best of Valencia. Please note, some are free of charge, but others have a fee. Although the IFF is collecting registrations, you are expected to pay the vendors directly. Please do not sign up unless you are definitely planning to attend, as you will be expected to cover any fees once registered.
Walking Tour of Valencia
Take a 2.5 hour walking tour or the city and learn its history and its many different secrets. Did you know, for example, that Paella comes from Valencia, and that the coat of arms has a bat on it? Valencia is a beautiful city, full of history and charm. Take a few hours to find out why the IFF organizers fell in love with it! Meet at Plaza de La Virgen in front of the Catedral.
Paddle Surf for Beginners
The Mediterranean, with its warm, crystal clear blue waters is perfect for Paddle Surfing. This class will provide you with a basic introduction to this native Hawaiian-born sport where you use a paddle to propel yourself through the water. Perfect event to take advantage of Valencia’s beautiful beaches.
Olhöps Craft Beer House will be providing a personalized tasting of 4 different styles of craft beers accompanied by appetizers, finishing the night off with ice-cream beer. Appetizers will include nachos, hummus and pizza.
This event will take place in a traditional Valencian country home, situated in L’alqueria de Boro. Learn to make an authentic paella as it should be made – over a burning stove. In addition, eat your delicious creations in a beautiful setting. This is a great way to live like a Valenciano for a few hours.
Valencia native and author of thriller El Jardin de Carton, Santiago Alvarez, will provide a dark tour of Valencia as seen through his characters. Learn about the hidden secrets and dark past of the city.
Bicycle Ride on the River Bed
Take a guided group bicycle tour around the river. Lasting 3 hours, you will go Valencia’s largest park at a length of 8 km, and full of gardens, trees and historical bridges.
Hazte Banquero is a theater play in Spanish that describes what happened in Spain after the Black Card documents were leaked via XnetLeaksBox, a customization of Global Leaks. These documents showed how the economic crisis in Spain was orchestrated by banks. The play is the creation of Xnet, a group of activists who have been working since 2008 in different areas related with online democracy, and 15MpaRato, the group of citizens that filed a lawsuit that brought the Bankia case before the National High Court and revealed the stock exchange scam, the high risk Preference shares and the #TarjetasBlack (Black Cards) scandal.
