|2017 theme||Policy & Advocacy|
Coinciding with the ten-year anniversary of Take Back the Tech! campaign to reclaim information and communication technology (ICT) to end violence against women (VAW), this session aims to celebrate the online movements, campaigns and conversations by women and queer people in the Global South over the past couple of years. We would like to share our collective thoughts on them, but most importantly, we would like to highlight what worked, what could have been done better, what we can expect to happen in the future. The session will close by recommending several strategies on executing gender-related campaigns in the future, especially given recent socio-political developments both at home and abroad. This session especially aims to CELEBRATE efforts and acknowledge what has already been achieved.
