2017 theme Internet Freedom: Present and Future

The Association for Progressive Communications will host a very dynamic and productive workshop on economic, social and cultural rights (ESCR) and the internet. Unlike civil and political rights, ESCRs are rights that governments undertake to achieve over time, referred to as “progressive realisation”. ESCRs include rights like work, housing, health, education, and culture. We would like to discuss how internet is helping – or not helping – the realisation of these rights, to share research and analysis that we have conducted on the field with the help of experts from around the world and to get a sense of what the advocacy strategy and the priorities would be from the point of view of IFF participants. The format is a brief introduction by a short set of resource people followed by an informal and interactive discussion with participants.
