2017 theme Journalism & Media

In response to the growing threat that non-state actors present to the safety of journalists worldwide, the Committee to Protect Journalists has assembled an Emergency Response Team to protect journalists beyond the reaches of our traditional advocacy and reporting. Covering all the corners of a holistic security program, the ERT features:

  • physical security veteran Colin Pereira, Journalist Safety Specialist;
  • Staff Technologist Tom Lowenthal, specializing in computer security.

In this session, we'll introduce the new ERT members and outline our work to prevent and mitigate attacks on the press as they happen, across the world. Come to learn about CPJ's emergency response work, ask questions, make suggestions, and talk about ways that we can collaborate and work together.
