Session Description

We want to host a discussion and encourage a conversation about best practices for security in journalism education coverage in regions where there is a permanent situation of violence or chronic violence. We want to expose the holistic approach (personal safty, digital security and psychosocial self-care) that we use in Central America. In our work we prioritize the areas of risk identification and risk management, profile management of journalist and journalistic planning whit a security approach. We focus on the adoption of best practices and changing bad habits more than tools; the application of personal criteria to know not only “how” to do but “when” and “why”; besides emphasizing reinforce concepts of solidarity and empathy as additional protection tools.
