User experience of configuring Tor in Tails (and Tor Browser and Whonix)
Users of Tor sometimes need special configuration for Tor depending on the local network, the ongoing censorship, or their need for anonymity. Tor Browser, Tails, and Whonix are all currently relying on Tor Launcher to allow users to configure bridges, pluggable transports, and proxies. Still, the three projects have started in parallel to redesign Tor Launcher: - In Tails: https://tails.boum.org/blueprint/network_connection/ - In Tor: https://lists.torproject.org/pipermail/ux/2015-December/000002.html - In Whonix: https://www.whonix.org/pipermail/whonix-devel/2015-December/000464.html This session will explore with all interested parties (developers, designers, trainers, and users) the user scenarios, design proposals, and implementation issues behind this work.
